Before... and (Ever) After!

I've taken the week off... with "nothing to do" (Tsk! Tsk!)
So I decided to do a (rather drastic) redo on this old writing desk
that we've had for more years than I can recall!
I did the original redo some twenty years ago: stenciled hearts,
olive green paint, checkerboard... cute, but boring!

The "after" was an application of Old Village satin paint: Black.
Then I sanded it down, applying a top coat
of FolkArt chalk paint: ultra matte Grotto.
Sanded that coat down with a whole lot of elbow-grease...
And then rag rubbed some Tsukinek Walnut Crystals Ink
into all of the worn, sanded corners, cracks and crevices!

Sweet... huh?

Forlorn Angel Boy... Forging Ahead!

Angel Boy has a basecoat of raw umber...
and is just standing around on my worktable,
"waiting to become!"

His trousers are sewn from some hand-dyed wool
that we picked up this past summer in Lancaster County.
(the same fabric I used for the "troublesome trio!")

A Short... "Sneak Peek" Video

I have been working feverishly... finishing up a doll
for the Art Doll Quarterly Doll Challenge
due December 15th! (that would be nine days from today!)

The Challenge: A Dr. Seuss Character Doll!

My doll is the "strange bird" from his book:
"Oh, the Places You'll Go!"

The stanza from the book that my Strange Bird
is based upon reads:

You'll get mixed up, of course,
as you already know.
You'll get mixed up with
many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life's
a Great Balancing Act.
